The chaos and uncertainty of the past couple years have forced us to meet unanticipated challenges and reach for help from unexpected places. Living Mirror Playback Theater invites you to reflect with us on our various support systems. Who has provided support for you in the past? Where can we find support in our present circumstances? What support will you need in the future either personally or collectively? And we invite you to also reflect on support you may have offered others – how that made both you and the recipient feel….. Being grateful for help we’ve received in turn helps us be present to offer our help to others. A positive feedback loop!

We are looking forward to hearing your stories and allowing us to respectfully play those back for you using classic Playback improvisational forms!

This show is part of the online Playback North America Conference & Performance Festival: Playback in Community- Reaching Towards the Futures We Want. It will include over 20 conference sessions and 8 performances, hosted & performed by PNA members. The full Performance Festival runs 3/11/22 – 3/13/22.

Living Mirror Playback Theater is an egalitarian ensemble in its tenth year of offering shows throughout the Tampa Bay area. Several of the original members are still performing with us, including our Artistic Director, Sandra Seeger (she, her). We have performed over 70 shows in our history, fulfilling our mission to serve the underserved and tell the stories of those who are not often heard. We have partnered with other non-profits such as community service agencies, faith communities, medical and behavioral organizations, environmental groups, and even a Zoom performance for elementary school teachers. One organization was a national support group for birth parents who had given up their children for adoption. Despite what seemed to be a daunting subject, the event proved to be an extremely uplifting experience, once again proving the power of Playback. Implicit in our mission is the championing of social and economic justice and environmental activism. Connecting with like-minded groups and helping build community is important to us. And lest we sound pretentious, we also like to have fun – private events like wedding and birthdays give us a chance to lighten up and have fun with our audience! Our diverse troupe includes several members of the mental health profession, as well as folks with theatrical and film experience. Regardless of our background, we are a tightly knit, supportive group who are ever endeavoring to improve our craft through rehearsals, training, and challenging ourselves to grow creatively. We love Playback. It’s life affirming, spiritually satisfying, and downright fun…..

Performers: Christina Bellamy (she, her), Cece Yocum (she, her), Jimmy Payne (he, him), Molly Dakota (she, her), Natasha Infante (she, her), John Heimburg (he, him)
