Virtual Event Virtual Event

October 17, 2022 @ 5:00 pm 6:30 pm EDT

Meets for six sessions:  Mondays, October 24th-November 28, 2022, 5-6:30pm ET

Are you a relatively new Playback performer–or not so new, but would like to have fresh input to hone up your performing skills? Or are you in need of support for teaching your troupe members any of the Playback roles?

PNA’s fall book groups might be just what you want! Together, we will work through the “Artistic Skills” section of PNA’s “Playback Theater Toolkit: through the lens of one company’s experience.” In the six sessions we will cover: acting forms, acting skills, conducting, music, performance skills, Playback ethics, and more. See this Table of Contents for details.

You will be emailed the zoom link upon registration and the zoom link will also appear on this page 15 minutes prior to the event.

As a PNA member, you can access a pdf of the complete Playback Toolkit here, or contact info@playbacknorthamerica.comto order a hard copy at a special members’ discount rate

Facilitator:  Jamie Redwood (she/her)

I joined Chicago Playback Theater in March 2022, and am looking forward to this book group as a chance to learn a lot more about the complex, artistic practice of Playback Theater.  I hope other new-ish Playback performers will join me. I’m new to Playback, but not to acting: I moved from Ohio to Chicago to pursue a career as an actor and music teacher (piano and vocals). I’m an experienced group facilitator, and make radical kindness a priority in both my personal and professional life.

Book groups are free for PNA members – and we encourage you to donate $5-30 per group meeting, to help keep PNA running.

You do not have to attend every session of this series, but you will still register for the full series here. Please determine what number of sessions in the series you will attend and reserve that number of tickets.

For example, if you planned to attend all six sessions of the series and chose to donate $30 per session, you would purchase six $30 tickets on this page. If you planned to attend three sessions of the series and chose to donate $5 per session, you would purchase three $5 tickets on this page.
