Examples of issues we might explore:

* diversity of audiences not matching the cast
* tellers with different political viewpoints

February 10 – March 10, 2023 (5 sessions)

Please register asap if you are interested in this series.  Limited spaces available.
Please only sign up if you can come to at least three of the sessions.

Sliding scale, $100-$300. 100% of the fees will support PNA. If you can’t afford to pay on this range let us know–no one turned away for lack of money.

Sessions are highly participatory and include (optional) coaching.

Facilitator:  Christopher Ellinger
Two of my favorite activities are conducting Playback shows and teaching other Playback conductors. I have performed in over 700 shows with the Boston-based company True Story Theater, mostly as conductor, covering a wide range of social impact topics (for instance, on diversity, equity, and inclusion issues in partnership with our town, and on the climate crisis in partnership with local environmental groups.  See this page for more.) I have led or co-led workshops and exchanges with about 30 different new and experienced Playback companies, in the U.S., Canada and other countries around the world.

I am the co-founder and past coordinator of Playback North America (PNA), and currently serves as a board member of the International Playback Theatre Network (PTN) and host of the monthly program, “Playback Voices around the World.”  My partner Anne and I have written several books about Playback available to PNA members, including a 300-page reference guide on artistic, business, and company skills for fellow practitioners entitled, A Playback Theatre Toolkit: through the lens of one company’s perspective.
